HELP! Did I hook up my electric dryer incorrectly?
I purchased a previous returned/repaired Bosch Nexxt 500 series electric dryer for Lowes. Wanting to save the $40 delivey fee, we brought it home ourselves and unhooked our old electric dryer.My husband is not an electrician, but insists that he has hooked up plenty of dryers before with no problems. He took off the back wiring panel and Bosch 500 Series rewired our old 4-prong to the back of the washer, showing me how each of the colors matched "red to red, black to black, white to white, green to green". We plugged it in and it seemed to work great, so I ran a load on no heat.When it didn't dry after three cycles, I chose a cycle with medium heat. It got hot very quickly and then popped and the power went off. The vent hose seemed to be installed correctly with no kinks. My husband went outside to flip the breaker, and when he was in the garage doing so, the dryer popped with a hollow sort of thump, and sparked. What could be going on? I insist the spark and pop are signaling a problem with the power, or amps, something along that line.My husband insists he did everything correctly.Any ideas? Thanks for your help!!! :)
